As most Alabamian’s know, July and August are our two hottest months each year. We are in the 8 weeks where the temps can be most dangerous but it’s also the time when outdoor fun is at its best so I thought a few tips on recognizing the signs of a heat stroke would be beneficial for us all.
Signs to look for if you think YOU
may be in danger of a heat stroke:
- Confusion
- Dizziness and light-headedness
- You have stopped sweating
- Cramps or muscle weakness
- Rapid heartbeat
- Rapid and shallow breathing
Signs
to look for if you think SOMEONE AROUND YOU is having a heat stroke:
- Red, hot, and dry skin
- Nausea and vomiting
- Behavioral changes such as confusion, disorientation,
or staggering
- Seizures
- Unconsciousness
How to treat heat stroke:
1. Get emergency help immediately
2. Keep Cool until treated
Have
a safe and happy summer!!
